I am, surprisingly, largely indifferent to this episode. I think the main reason for this is I went into it reminding myself that it was episode 21, an episode that is normally, plot heavy, has a lot crammed into it, and very likely to make me scream in unhappiness any given season. It lived up to its predecessors. I didn't hate it. I can't think of anything I loved. It did do a good job of moving all the plots along to the finale. Everything else is under a cut and contains spoilers.

Did you perhaps hear someone screaming a large string of expletives this morning? That was me when I realized that it was Eileen being chased by a hellhound. If I had more energy, I would write a mountain of Sam/Eileen fics in protest. We knew her days were numbered, she had chemistry with one of the boys. I also totally understand what plot purposes it served for her specifically to die and why it kind of had to be her. Does not mean they couldn't have let her cling on a bit longer.

I am also pissed off that Ketch has his own hellhound. (And auto correct is bound and determined to change hellhouse to hellhouse, so if I miss one, apologies.) Ketch. Of all the people.

When Mary started working with the BMoLs, I figured it was going to go epicly sideways in some manner. Brainwashing her and making her into their pawn, I did not see coming. It's even a plotline I could have greatly appreciated... if it wasn't so close to the season finale, which means one of two things is (probably) going to happen; they are either going to have to waste/rush what could have been an interesting plot line in the interest of wrapping things up for the finale or they are going to drag it into next season and its going to linger well past its best by date while they work on other storylines. I am sort of hoping they cut it off at the finale, as I am tired of the BMoLs in general, but I am willing to be surprised.

Mary's shock of being told John went off the rails rubbed me the wrong way as well. While I did not expect her to know the details of the drinking and leaving the boys alone for days on end, she did read his journal and would have seen how obsessed he was and how he lived life and should have at the very least had an inkling of what he was like at the time.

Crowley bring cozy with the BMoL was not totally surprising, but still completely wtf? That he would have some sort of arrangement with them, especially given how they work and how he has managed to survive and operate on a global level, is very in character. It still annoys me. And I will probably never let the “Ketch has his own hellhound” thing go, just fair warning.

I am still waiting for Ketch to go full Azula on us. (My apologies to those who have not watched Avatar the Last Airbender and don't know what I mean.)

Yay, they finally searched for the bug!

If you heard more screaming a bit later, though with fewer expletives than the first time around, that was also me. Of all the freaking plot twists. I don't even know how to describe my feelings over Luci's device. Every time I try to formulate something in my mind, all I get is, “what the ever loving fuck?” I am just going to pretend to believe that it is all part of Crowley's plan to make Lucifer think he is free on his own to go find the Lucifetus for Crowley until I am proved otherwise. It does sound like the kind of thing he would come up with. He isn't grossly incompetent (letting the boys live repeatedly could be argued as an exception, but we will ignore that).

I am also 99.9% certain Crowley is in that rat. I was at only 90% when they made a big deal of him looking at it and then it was gone when Crowley was stabbed. The fact that it followed after the body when they dragged it off made me up my percentage. It is his favorite meatsuit after all.

One bit of dialogue I liked was between Ketch and Mary; “I killed somebody. He was a friend.”

“I do it all the time.”

It did give us a sort of flicker into the inner Ketch, his body language more than the words themselves, which still makes me think he might be a wild card in the end.

The scene also had good timing for me because I had just been thinking, “so when do we get the scene where Mary tries to kill herself?” And, boom, there it was.

The shoot out in the bunker was pretty cool and I liked the boys taking Toni hostage. I have been worried about how they were going to rip away the safe haven of the bunker from the boys since it was introduced, more so since the BMoL showed up, as it was obvious it was going to be compromised. I am very curious to see how this plays out.
