Challenge #12
Tell Us about a Personal Win.
The day this challenge went up, I was going to make a silly post saying, "I made a pretty girl laugh," and leave it at that because, let's be honest, 2023 was not great for me, and I did make a pretty girl laugh that day and that is a win, but I owe it to myself to acknowledge I did have some wins in the last year.
I survived with some sense that the light at the end of the tunnel might not be an oncoming train.
I became a great aunt last January.
My mother and I found a way to get along more than not and she actually started seeing my side on some things.
I found a way to make my bed work to where I actually get some sleep and don't feel like the bed was trying to kill me all night when I get up every morning.
I went to my first gaming convention.
Reached 200 posts on Instagram.
Had my one year of knitting anniversary.
I got a scrunchie, that if worn right, makes it look like I have cat ears.
I finally got a wavy fern.
I also got my first Emotional Support Demon plushie (which is also my first from Makeship and my first plushie designed by The Click).
I got to support an indie band I like by buying their merch, which on the tiniest of ways helped them fund their European tour.
There was finally a memorial service for a friend of mine that passed away in 2019 and I was able to go.
Basically, I started participating in outside activities again, most of which were at the library.
I got to barbecue.
I befriended a crow (and then the whole family).
I got to spend a few days with some cats I used to be the primary caregiver of.
We finally got my dad's stuff out of his storage unit.
I finally got rid of the recling loveseat. It was very satisfying yeeting it off the porch into the yard.
A friend I hadn't got to see in 6 years came to visit for a weekend.
I had a solo art show in October. It was one wall and in gallery at the library, but still. Fourteen pieces on public display for the first time since 2016.
After 27 years, I was finally able to identify this plant I own. It's a type of yucca tree.
I wore a Halloween costume for the first time in a few years.
I actually got the "no results found" page during a Google search.
Despite my city being very small, I had trouble finding & getting to five local businesses and I managed to find & visit them all.
I befriended more cats.
For the first time ever, I actually finished all the challenges of a snowflake challenge, even if it took me until December 29th.

Date: 2024-02-07 12:26 am (UTC)Ours warmed up to us I think mostly due to luck. They didn't start hanging around so much until after one of the fledglings that had left the nest, but couldn't really fly took refuge on our front porch (the poor thing was trying to hide in a dirt filled flower pot) and we left it alone, but also protected it from the neighborhood stray cat that kept trying to get at it until the fledgling found a better hiding place. After that, they started hanging out and we fed them every time they showed up and now it's just a thing. It is also the first year since we've been watching them that all the crows hatched made it to adulthood.
Individual crows have their own favorite foods, but crows almost universally like cat food, if you'd like to try that.

Woohoo!
This is a great list of wins!
