In your own space, post your pictures of your fandom scavenger hunt results.
Look around your current space, whether digital or brick-n-mortar. Post a pic or description of:
(Okay, since I'm not good with the posting pics thing, y'all are getting descriptions and links where I can)
1. a fannish item: From where I sit, the closest fandom item to me is my cubby of fandom stuff that lives on my desk, which is a lot of fandom items. In it are six Batmans (Batmen?), the Nightwing and Robin (Tim) figures that go with The New Batman Adventures Batman, Wonder Woman figure, the Robin (Damian) that goes with the gooey fighting figure Batman, a baby owlbear vinyl figure, the Superman that goes with my tiniest Batman figure (both of which are supposed to double as a cell phone handle things), a crocheted tentacle monster, a (movie) Aang McDonald's toy, three 3D printed articulated slugs, and an unfinished Grogu (Baby Yoda) vinyl figure I've been painting.
2. something round: He's more cylindrical than round, but the flying pig plushie I was given for Yule that lives on my nightstand to keep me from dumping clutter there.
3. something that is your favorite color: I'm in my bedroom, so there is kind of a high concentration of things that are my favorite color, but I am going to go with my purple velour scrunchie because it's closest to my favorite shade of purple.
4. the last game you played (video, phone, table top, etc.): Subeta. The Link should go to my game profile. The custom background seems to be broken at the moment, but you can see my current avatar, some stats, and if you scroll down, you can click on links to my in game pets and see their profiles (and minions and treasure chests) as well.
5. a book you are currently reading: Death on Top by Ellie Alexander (I'm not enjoying it.) cover image from a Google search result
6. album art of the first song that comes up on shuffle: Um, my music listening these days is almost exclusively with my CD player, so not going to work, but I believe the album in there right now is Third Eye Blind by Third Eye Blind cover image from a Google search result
7. the last movie you watched: How have I not watched a movie since I watched Interview with a Vampire last? Screw the movie poster. Have some homoerotic gifs Louis & Lestat
Louis & Armand
the Louis & Armand I actually planned on linking
8. TV show you're currently watching: Hawaii 5-0 (2010) is on in the other room for background noise.
9. the homescreen, lockscreen, or desktop wallpaper from your device: Bob's lockscreen is blue and red jellyfish floating against a black background that came from the wallpaper app that came with the phone. It's not popping on Google to link you to an image of it.

I don't know what the plural should be.
And I wonder what the collective nouns for batmans(batmen) should be?
A flight of batmen? A scare of batmen? A darkness of batmen? A cave of batmen?

Date: 2022-01-29 12:25 pm (UTC)Since I plan on only adding to my Bat People, I decided to do a quick google and see what the internet says, and there is no general consensus. LOL I was not expecting as many results from actual grammar help websites, but they all said something different. One said man always becomes men so Batmen. One said because it's a proper noun it's Batmans even though it sounds jarring. One said both are correct. And several said different versions of it's impossible to know so just avoid using the plural of Batman. After skimming those articles, I am partial to Batmans, only because they had a well thought out argument on why it should be that over Batmen and because it differentiates it from the military title batman (a servant or valet to a military officer), the plural of which is batmen.
Those are all excellent collective nouns! I am particularly partial to a scare of batmen. But would it only apply to a group of Batmans/Batmen or any grouping of Batfamily members?
And just because this is fun and there have been recent storylines involving all the former Robins working together, what should the collective nouns for Robins be? A tumble of robins?

Fun!!
:D

Date: 2022-01-29 01:37 pm (UTC)Hehehe, those are fun. I have a feeling the collective noun for Robins would also be different depending on which former Robin you asked as well.
Now, I kind of want a vigilante themed show that's based on old nature documentaries, complete with narration with an aggressively British accent. "Today on Wild Vigilante we bring you to the streets of Gotham to observe the scare of batfamily that resides here. On the rooftop above us, you can see a tumble of robins vie for supremacy of the roost. It must be a particularly important gargoyle indeed, if such a ruckus is cause for the privilege of roosting upon it. Ah, and I see we get a sighting of the migratory Nightwing..."
Or a Panda Redd sketch where Bill the Henchman uses the collective nouns to refer tot he batfamily around a new henchman, freaking him out. Though he already has a similar sketch where he explains what happens to you if you get caught by the various Robins and Batgirls.
Oh, no, I just had a horrible thought: a trauma of batfamily. A trauma of Batmans and a trauma of Robins also work and oh no I made it sad.

Date: 2022-01-29 02:50 pm (UTC)And who wouldn't be be freaked out by a scare of batmans?
Trauma - it's maybe a little too close to home.
What about a reassurance of Alfreds instead?

Date: 2022-02-08 08:51 am (UTC)A scare of batmans is truly terrifying.
Yeah, that was a step to far I think XD
Yes! A reassurance of Alfreds! I love it!
